Rice bran oil: ancient beauty formula for glossy hair
Rice bran oil has been an efficient beauty oil for centuries. It is extracted from the husky outer layer of brown rice. High in powerful antioxidants, it is a perfect oil for hair soap. In the right combination with other oils, it has amazing cleansing and nourishing properties for hair and scalp. It does not weigh down your hair like many other oils, and it makes your hair soft and glossy. It can regulate sebum production, keep hair looking fresh for longer and moisturise your scalp. We use rice bran oil in our OH! hair soap.

How to use the hair soap
When using hair soap, instead of lathering the soap up in your hands, rub the bar into your hair and scalp directly. It creates a much richer lather and cleanses your hair and scalp more thoroughly. We find sectioning the hair into three parts and rubbing the bar in to be most effective. Lather up and rinse with warm water as you normally would. Wash and go.
How Long before my hair gets used to the hair soap?
Our hair soap lathers beautifully and feels like any detergent shampoo. When you first use hair soap instead of commercial detergent shampoo, your hair might become heavy, dull and greasier, or you may experience detangling problems or it may actually feel waxy straight after rinsing. Not to worry. As you transition to a natural shampoo bar, give your hair time to get used to its new chemical-free life. The transition period can range from a few days to a few weeks or even a month. It depends on how damaged your hair is, residue and build-up and your type of hair. Your patience will be rewarded with shiny, healthy hair.
Will this hair soap work For my hair?
Some customers have come back saying that they could speed up the transition process by rinsing their hair with a mix of 1 liter of warm water and a spoonful of vinegar or lemon juice after washing it. If you're struggling, try it and see if it works for you.
How to make your natural soap last
Handmade natural soaps require a dry place in between uses. Natural soaps are high in natural glycerin and vegetable oils that will break down quickly if sat in a soggy soap dish. Industrial soaps are mechanically compressed, natural soaps harden naturally through the saponification and curing process. Let your soap dry properly. Please store unused natural soaps in a cool and dry place. For travelling try not to wrap it in plastic and do not use a plastic soap dish, as natural soaps need to breathe.
How to store your Hair soap
Take a look at our magnetic soap holders made from reclaimed timber. They are perfect on the wall next to your sink, and they can hold any of our soaps easily. Pop a crown (included) into the cleaning soap and the magnet will hold it safely in place. When you want to use your facial soap, just slide it off the magnet, use it and pop it back on. It's really that easy.
